How Is Somatic Therapy Different Than Traditional Therapy?
In a world that often prioritizes the mind over the body, Somatic Coaching offers a transformative alternative—one that honors the body as a gateway to the psyche and a home for your deepest self. Our approach to Somatic Coaching is unique because it combines several powerful modalities, including Hakomi Mindful Somatic Coaching, Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, nature-based therapy, and ancient wisdom practices. But the real magic lies in our unwavering commitment to compassionate presence and respect for the body’s wisdom.
Braving the Wilderness - A Somatic Journey
When one embarks on this somatic journey, they are gifted with an embodied relationship to their Deepest Self and Wise Inner Knowing. From this place of innate wholeness, your fullest expression comes through in all you do.
What is the Safe and Sound Protocol?
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a gentle, listening-based therapy designed to help calm the nervous system and improve feelings of safety and connection. Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, SSP is based on Polyvagal Theory and helps reset the nervous system to better respond to stress and trauma.
What is Polyvagal Theory?
Polyvagal Theory, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, helps us understand how our nervous system responds to safety and threat.
What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is a body-based approach to healing trauma, stress, and shock stored in the nervous system. Trauma isn't just about the event, but how it affects the body, often keeping us stuck in fight, flight, or freeze responses. SE helps release these stuck patterns, allowing the body to recover and build resilience.
What is Hakomi?
Hakomi is a unique form of psychotherapy that combines mindfulness, somatic awareness, and compassionate exploration resulting in profound healing and self-discovery. Hakomi offers a safe nurturing space to explore your inner world, tune into the wisdom of your body, and embrace transformative self-awareness.
What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic Therapy is a holistic approach to healing that honors the deep connection between your mind, body, and spirit. Rooted in the understanding that our bodies hold wisdom, Somatic Therapy invites you to slow down, feel, and listen to the sensations within.
Burnout and the Radical Path of Non-Abandonment of Self
Burnout. Ooof…a bodily state that is so very primal, complex, nuanced, and human in its nature. Society often creates a lot of judgment, shame, and drama around burnout. For instance, one might feel like they aren’t “strong enough”. One may look at other co-workers, in the same situation that are thriving, and feel too sensitive, that something is inherently wrong with them, or that they should toughen up and be able to handle this. Burnout, in this instance, often gets blamed on the individual, leaving a residue of shame, blame and self judgment.
